Who we are
FlatLyne is a service that tells you when a scheduled job stops running. It is run by FlatLyne Technologies Pvt. Ltd. ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described here.
This policy covers flatlyne.com, the dashboard, our API and the ping URLs your jobs call. We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
What we collect
We only collect what we need to run the service.
- Your account. You sign in with Google, so we never see or store a password. Google gives us your account ID, email address, name and profile picture. We only accept Google accounts with a verified email address.
- Projects and teams. Project names and settings, who belongs to each project and their role, and invitations you send. An invitation stores the invited email address, the role and who sent it.
- Checks. Check names, schedules, time zones and status history, such as when a check went down and came back.
- Pings. Each ping from your job records its time, its type (start, success or fail), any exit code, the source IP address, the user agent and the first 10 KB of the request body. We keep the most recent 100 pings per check and delete older ones.
- Alert channels. The settings for each channel you connect: which members get email alerts, the Slack webhook created when you add FlatLyne to Slack, your PagerDuty integration key, and your webhook URL, headers and body template.
- Billing. Your plan, plus the customer ID, subscription ID and subscription status that Dodo Payments gives us. Card numbers and billing addresses go to Dodo Payments and never reach our servers.
- Sessions and logs. A record of each signed-in session: when it started, when it was last used and when it expires. Our server doesn't log every request, but its error logs can include an email address when an email fails to send. Our hosting providers may keep their own standard request logs, such as IP address and user agent.
Don't put passwords, tokens or other people's personal data in check names or ping bodies. We store whatever your job sends, up to the limit above.
How we use it
- To sign you in and keep you signed in.
- To run your checks, spot missed pings and send the alerts you set up.
- To let you invite people to a project and control what they can do.
- To take payment for paid plans and apply your plan's limits.
- To keep the service secure, for example by rate-limiting pings and investigating abuse.
- To email you about your account or the service, such as alerts and invitations.
We don't send marketing email.
Legal bases
If data protection laws such as the GDPR apply to you, we rely on these legal bases:
- Contract. Most processing is needed to give you the service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests. Keeping the service secure, preventing abuse and fixing problems.
- Legal obligation. Keeping billing records and answering lawful requests.
- Consent. Where you choose to connect a third-party service, such as Slack or PagerDuty. You can remove it at any time.
How long we keep it
- Account, project, check and alert-channel data: until you delete it or delete your account.
- Pings: the most recent 100 per check. Older pings are deleted as new ones arrive.
- Sessions: until you sign out or after 15 days, whichever comes first.
- Invitation links: they stop working after 7 days.
- Backups: up to 14 days, after which deleted data is gone from them too.
- Billing records: Dodo Payments keeps these as long as the law requires.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent. You can see and change most of your data in the dashboard. For anything else, email [email protected]. We may need to confirm it's you, and we'll reply within one month.
If you think we've handled your data wrongly, you can complain to your local data protection authority. We'd like the chance to fix it first, so please tell us.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from account settings at any time. You type your email address to confirm, and the deletion is immediate and permanent. It removes:
- your user record, sessions and project memberships;
- every project you own, with all of its checks, pings, ping URLs, alert channels, members and invitations.
Projects you belong to but don't own stay with their owner. You are simply removed from them. Copies in backups expire as described above. If you pay for Pro, deleting your account cancels your subscription straight away. Dodo Payments keeps its own payment records.
Security
The service runs over HTTPS. The secrets we issue are stored as one-way hashes or encrypted, and webhook alerts are never sent to private network addresses. Read our security page for the details, including what we don't have yet.
International transfers
Our API and database run on Amazon Web Services in the United States (us-east-1), and the website on Vercel. Some of the services listed above may process data in other countries. When data leaves your country, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses to protect it.
Children
FlatLyne is a tool for people who run software and isn't meant for children. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when our practices change and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll email account holders before it takes effect.
